Hi, I'm Gary Downes,

I am a Milford resident and small business owner, whose family has lived in southern Delaware for several generations. I have a deep rooted commitment to the area and want to continue my years of community service by being the next Senator for the 18th District.

I am very excited about the possibility of joining the State Senate. I look forward to rolling up my sleeves and bringing fellow Delawareans together to work on the tough issues. Some of these issues include providing quality affordable Heath Care to all residents and strengthening our economy by bringing high tech jobs to southern Delaware. When elected, I also plan on working with the Counties, Municipalities and concerned citizens to assure we maintain our quality of life by having sensible land use planning that preserves farmland, open space and protects our fragile inland bays. As your Senator, I will join other legislators and concerned citizens to make open government a reality by subjecting the senate to the Freedom of Information Act and eliminating the desk drawer veto.
